Girls Varsity Cross Country · Doing Great Things…XC – United Way Volunteers

On February 6, 2019 eight or our runners from the Olentangy High School girls cross country team had the opportunity to volunteer alongside the wonderful women from the United Way Women’s Leadership Network.  They helped with greeting, check-in and directing patrons to tables at their Million Dollar Milestone Celebration.  After completing their duties the girls had the privilege of listening to the stories and testimonies of women that have been doing amazing things to make our community a better place.

This is what the girls had to say about their experience:

“It only takes one person to make big changes.”

“One person can change someone’s life and I should do more to help others and make a difference in the world.”

“The message I received was the importance of involving yourself in the community to improve upon it and support everyone living in it.”

“With everyone’s support, positive change can impact many peoples’ lives and bring success to the families living in the community.”

“So many people are going through hardships that you would never expect just by looking at them.”

“You shouldn’t judge a person by looking at them.  You don’t know what they are going through.  Also, one person can completely change another persons life.”

“People may seem like they are living the same life as you but they are actually struggling.”

“By volunteering you could help make a difference in someone’s life.”
