The Olentangy Boys Cross Country team traveled to London Country Club over the weekend to compete in the Erin L. Nance Invitational. The 5K course winds over the country club grounds and golf course.
The Braves JV team took another 1st place win over 11 schools in the Open Race led by sophomore, PIetro Pozzi who was 2nd place overall with a time of 18:14. In 3rd and 4th place overall, junior, Afton Freeman (3rd, 18:17) and senior captain, Jeremy Kendle (4th, 18:23) helped secure the win by placing one after the other. Not far behind in scoring for the team was freshmen, Cole Brooksire (10th, 18:41) and Kyle Selby (14th, 18:44).
The Braves Varsity team raced next and secured a respectable 5th place finish out of 19 teams. Leading the running Braves in the Varsity Race was junior, Sam Holt in 14th place with a time of 17:38. Following Holt in scoring included junior captain, Carter Schaefer (24th, 17:52), sophomore, Chandler Moyer (26th, 17:56), junior Caden Ehrhardt (27th, 17:57) and senior captain, Cullen Sainey (29th, 17:57).
The boys teams travel to Hilliard Homecoming weekend to race in the Darby Dash at Hilliard Darby High School. Race time is 11:40am on Saturday. Run Brave!
Now that summer has decided to return, the Olentangy Boys cross country team experienced a hot race this past weekend at the Galion Cross Country Festival. Many of the running Braves were able to secure personal records (PRs) at this annual meet.
The varsity team ran in the Division 1 varsity race at 3:30pm and scored 22nd out of 37 teams. Leading the varsity runners was junior, Sam Holt with a time of 17:25 in 72nd place. Also scoring for the Braves included senior captain, Cullen Sainey, (17:36, 91st), sophomore, Mikey Worboy (17:51, 109th), freshman, Jack Dunlop, (17:54, 115th) and junior captain, Carter Schaefer (18:10, 133rd).
The boys open team took an amazing 1st place finish out of 11 teams. Leading the Braves was junior, Caden Ehrhardt in 2nd place overall with a time of 17:42. Joining in the winning score was sophomore, PIetro Pozzi (18:03, 5th), sophomore, Ryan Slyh (18:04, 6th), senior captain, Jeremy Kendle (18:12, 11th) and freshman, Kole Brookshire (18:33, 21st). Way to run, Braves!
The boys teams have a bye this week and will train and rest up for the Erin L. Nance Invitational on September 30th at the London Country Club.
The Olentangy High School Cross Country has a large team this year-around 75 runners. They were well able to represent the Braves at the McGowan Invitational this past weekend at Watkins Memorial High School.
The Braves JV team race began at 4pm and Olentangy placed 7th out of 28 teams. Leading the running Braves for the JV team was junior Caden Ehrhardt with a personal best of 17:58 (28th out of 183) followed by senior captain, Jeremy Kendle (33rd, 18:02), senior captain, Bentley Azbell (36th, 18:08), sophomore, Ryan Slyh (48th, 18:23) and freshman, Preston Smith (53rd, 18:27).
The Braves Varsity team ran next and placed 15th out of 32 teams led by senior captain, Cullen Sainey with a time of 17:08 (54th) followed by junior, Sam Holt (72nd, 17:24), sophomore, Chandler Moyer, (81st, 17:28), freshman, Mikey Worboy (100th, 17:44), and freshman, Jack Dunlop (104th, 17:52).
The day ended for the running Braves with the Boys Open race and Olentangy was able to place 3rd out of 10 teams. Scoring for the Braves included sophomore, Pietro Pozzi in 12th place with a time of 18:12, junior Max Garner (19th place, 18:41), junior Ronny Brennan (21st place, 18:41), sophomore, Jacob Reitz (26th, 18:47) and freshman, Kyle Selby, (50th, 19:11).
The Braves cross country team travels to Galion this weekend for the Galion Cross Country Festival. The varsity race starts at 3:30pm followed by the open race at 4:30pm. Run Brave!
